Look At What the SOS Has Done Now

Well, as most of you have probably seen, we have an Anti-SOS button on our page. I have gotten many e-mails asking me why we have this Anti-SOS button, since "The SOS were the ones who saved Sailor Moon In North America!" This simply isn't the case.

The fact of the matter is that SOS has lied countless times and continues to lie to this day! This page is here so that we can log everything that the SOS says or does that is ridiculous. Please keep in mind that this log was started on 9/24/00. Everything the SOS has done before that date will not be valid in this log. We will only mark things that the SOS has done after 9/24/00 (but there will be a few exceptions).

10/17/01 - Well, SOS has "changed their story" so to say about that last article I reported about. They took out the comment about America wanting to "pursue the old policy of crushing freedom in other nations and taking economic advantage of them" and also added a new paragraph stating - "(Some fans have suggested a former version of this story was too political, which may have been true. One fan even suggested it was "anti-American," which couldn't be further from the truth! However, we have decided that we shouldn't try to influence your opinion on such a matter as this - we want the letters you write -- see below -- to truly reflect your thoughts and feelings.)"

While, I think it was probably in their best interest to change the article (and I'm glad they did do it), I still don't agree with what they did.

As for the "anti-American" thing, sure, what they did wasn't anti-american. Tactless? Yes. Anti-American? No. Un-american? Maybe. The fact of the matter is having the opinion they have is not wrong. Where they conveyed their opinion was wrong. Posting a political opinion so strong as that one was just TOTALLY out of line on a "news" site, especially a Sailor Moon news site. It might have been appropriate on a political site, or maybe on the MSNBC show, Hardball, but not on the SOS page.

I think that's all I have to say about this for now. I'm glad that the SOS changed this, but I still think that they have no excuse for putting it up in the first place.

10/15/01 - Never before have I been so ENRAGED by what the SOS has posted on their webpage. There's a few things I need to go through as well, so we'll get to the really enraging part first. Please note that I use some profanity in this - sorry, I'm just extremely mad right now.

Something More Important Than The Luna Balls.....
Your Chance To Help Change The World

You might have noticed how we've stayed on the sidelines of recent events in the United States and other parts of the world. We haven't asked anyone to donate anything to anywhere, not to the Twin Towers fund, the Red Cross or the Red Crescent.

Recently however, the President of the United States asked that every American child send in one U.S. dollar in care of the White House to be sent to aid the children of Afghanistan. Now the United States government already has plenty of money; it could easily send a dollar in every child's name. The real point of this is to win the hearts & minds of the world and then, perhaps, pursue the same old policy of crushing freedom in other countries and taking economic advantage of them.

Would you like the United States to behave differently? Would you truly like to help the children of Afghanistan?

Then we'd like to advise all U.S. Sailor Moon fans to do the following: Yes! Please send in your one dollar to the White House, but wrap it in a small note about how you feel the country should behave from now on. The White House may or may not care what you think but we'd like you to start watching this situation because it's going to affect you a lot in the future. You are the future voters of America and your future is up to you.

I'm absolutely infuriated right now so I'll try not to go on too long of a rant. First off, I think this statement was absolutely uncalled for. "Now the United States government already has plenty of money; it could easily send a dollar in every child's name. The real point of this is to win the hearts & minds of the world and then, perhaps, pursue the same old policy of crushing freedom in other countries and taking economic advantage of them."

I'm sorry, but HOW DARE YOU say that America is crushing freedom in other countries. The only countries we're even involved with (as far as military power) are the ones WITHOUT freedom. Take Afghanistan, it is against the law there to watch tv, listen to music, take pictures, for women to come out in public, hell it's even illegal to get certain types of HAIRCUTS there. Now while I'm not saying the US is perfect and that they have just reasons for sometimes being a "bully", that doesn't mean that we crush freedom in other countries and take economic advantage of them. Hell, what could we benefit out of Afghanistan's economy? They have no economy, but enough about the political rant, let's get to my morals here.

I'm sick and tired of hearing people badmouth the USA, especially in this time of need. Saying that the US is going to EXPLOIT ITS CITIZENS who donate money to help people in other countries absolutely enrages me! All that is implying is that the people who have the kind heart to donate money are stupid for "trusting in their government". Well excuse me for putting my fucking trust in a government that has taken care of me all my life. Excuse me for loving a land where I can walk down the street and not be afraid of getting put in jail for being who I am.

So was this whole "donate a dollar" campaign really to exploit the children of America? I highly doubt it. I think this was an attempt by the government to let the children of America feel like they were helping the world by donating money. Make them feel like they were involved and make them feel like they were helping our world in this time of need.

I'm going to try and stop myself now before this becomes a really horrible incoherent rant, but the fact that the SOS felt it necessary to find any type of bad in a good thing is totally appalling. This is by far, in my eyes, the worst thing the SOS has EVER done, and they have lost me totally. I doubt I will ever even go back to that horrible site. This is beyond a small quibble between my Sailor Moon opinions and theirs, this is much worse.

In other news, the SOS said that YTV aired the "Clothes Call" episode without the "YTV" editing and urges fans to contact the CTRC (i think that's what they're called) to complain that there wasn't more editing. Whatever the hell that means. Wasn't this the same site that praised Cloverway for trying to get away with LESS editing? Now they want fans to complain that there wasn't enough editing. That's just stupid, but it makes sense considering the absolute total communist idiots that write this crap. Anyway, I'm out to go pour cold water on my head to cool me down, Cya -

09/03/01 - I was gonna do a huge SOS update but saw that my thoughts had already been COMPLETELY conveyed on another great site. So, I'm gonna be lazy and direct all of you over to the The Worst Of the Web. You know, the site by the AQ? Hehe, the article in specific I'm talking about can be found here. It's number 29. Read and enjoy, and If you DO goto the AQ website to read that rant and that is your first time to that site, I highly suggest you check out the rest of the site as well.

06/23/01 - Well, this is interesting. This is a conversation that took place between Dan and someone that is apparently affiliated to the SOS. This conversation took place on one of the public hubs on MKBO. Let's look at the conversation, shall we? MarioKnight is Dan and **** is the SOS informant.

(****) - any of you guys hear anything about a stars release on cartoon network? there's a rumor going around that it starts july 27
(MarioKnight) - the rumor is false
(****) - kay good... the guys at sos were asking, and i don't live in the USA, and so i have no idea..
(MarioKnight) - it was an April Fool's joke by someone, but people didn't read the whole thing back then and for some reason it became more widespread that ot orginally did
(MarioKnight) - SOS was asking?
(****) - supers just started a month ago up here. yes, they were asking. i just give em' aall the news from the ytv side.
(MarioKnight) - I'd have thought they'd have done a full story by now, lol
(MarioKnight) - oh, you give them the SM news?
(****) - some of the news.. read the ytv story. that's me. terri hawkes and linda ballantyne are going to be together at a convention this summer... i smell a catfight.
(MarioKnight) - heh
(****) - yup.. i hate linda
(MarioKnight) - so what are their other sources for their news and such?
(****) - just fans come and give em' news. here in canada, i write to ytv, or if i'm really bored, i look around for stuff at other sites
(****) - all of the voicestars are on the comedy network here in canada.
(****) - tracey hoyt's voice is soo low. i wonder how she got around doing rini
(MarioKnight) - oh, because they never cite their sources or have anything to back them up, and they've gotten a lot of news stuff wrong for being such a big source of info
(MarioKnight) - Tracy Hoyt?
(MarioKnight) - was that Rini's VA in R?
(****) - noo... we have to give em, sources. and they always check around to make sure stuff is true. whatever i submit, i always include links to.
(****) - yes that was rini's va in R
(MarioKnight) - ah
(MarioKnight) - then if you have to give them sources and have to confirm them true, why do they get some stuff wrong? Their article about the first SMS release was loaded of wrong info and theres been other small things as well
(MarioKnight) - in their article about the first SMS release, information I had in November/December-ish was more accurate than they posted 2 days after the release in Febuary
(****) - because nobody told them of all the changes. really, all they know is about as much as anyone.
(MarioKnight) - nobody told me anything, I found all I posted on my own. I think it would be easier for a group as big as SOS because they supposedly have all these connections and all
(****) - actually, they have no connections. they rely on people like me for news. and we all checj 2-3 times to make sure its right. as for the stuff in the USA, i have no idea whose responsible for that
(MarioKnight) - so there really is no connections to any of the powers that be, I wonder why they say they have, thanx for all your info
(****) - no prob...

No connections? Just fans? Wow...This is all very interesting. Of course, we don't really know the validity of this person's story so I'm not going to be jumping to any conclusions yet. We'll be monitoring the situation for the next few weeks to see if anything arises out of this.

06/21/01 - Wow, it's been a while since I updated this section. Well, I guess you guys deserve an explanation. I basically stopped updating this section because I noticed that most of the time all I was doing was repeating myself over and over again, but since there is such a demand for this section to be updated regularly, I'm more than happy to do the fans a favor ~_^.

My main beef today is a few things that SOS has been doing over the last few months (since my last SOS update). First off, let's start with the "Let's move Sailor Moon to a new network" campaign.

Over the past month or two, the SOS has been trying to find options to get Sailor Moon to move to a new network other than Cartoon Network. They asked the fans to write in telling what network they think Sailor Moon should move to. Let's start with my beef with this campaign, shall we? My main beef is that I think it's WAY too early to even be THINKING about moving Sailor Moon to a new network. Sailor Moon has only been off the air for around 2 months (probably less). Not only that, Sailor Moon S premiered just over a year ago. Now that they ('they' as in the SOS) aren't getting Sailor Stars immediately, they're having a little tizzy and trying to get momentum going to move Sailor Moon to a new network. Give it some time, people! Now, I'm not saying that Sailor Moon doesn't need to move to a new network, what I'm saying is give it some time before you take any action. Between the 17 lost episodes of R and the premiere of S, almost 2 years passed (maybe more), funny how the SOS didn't get in a tizzy then about moving Sailor Moon to a new network....Anyway, give it some time! Cartoon Network (especially Toonami) is going through some tough times right now, let things settle down there before you do any rash measures. If things continue to go downhill from here, THEN I will support this campaign. Until then, I'll just treat this campaign as another dumb thing SOS is trying to start.

Next on my list is SOS's mini-campaign to get Canadians to e-mail Cloverway and tell them how much they suck. Now, I have some major beefs with this campaign. First off, they're letting Optimum off of the hook, and Optimum was the MAJOR PLAYER in the quality of S and SuperS. They supplied the voice actors, bad directors, and bad scripts. THEY are the ones to blame, not Cloverway. If anything, Cloverway has done more good to Sailor Moon than bad! Less cuts, original music, and bilingual DVDs which they allowed Pioneer to release. Sure, Cloverway has had their faults, but if anything, Optimum is to blame and not Cloverway. So what is SOS's excuse for blaming solely Cloverway and not Optimum? Let me get you a quote....

It's now become REALLY IMPORTANT for Canadian fans to write. Why? Because, if you've noticed, Cloverway hasn't said a thing to fans about the recent problems with Sailor Moon. At least Optimum apologized, Cloverway (which has taken credit on all post-DiC productions) has not. More so now than ever, it appears to us that Cloverway will not accept responsibility for what has happened and would not do so with "Sailor Stars" either!

Well, this would be fine and dandy if it were true. Optimum didn't apologize for ANYTHING! All they apologized for was that they weren't able to get the old voice artists back! That's it! They didn't apologize for assigning a lousy voice director to direct some potentially good artists, they didn't apologize for writing bad scripts, and they didn't apologize for all those horrible inconsistencies either! If Cloverway was guilty of ANYTHING, it was not taking part in the actual dubbing. From what I can tell, all Cloverway did was put the money up to get the license to dub and to distribute it (which they then sold to Pioneer). Optimum was the one who ruined the series. Also, some blame can be put on the Cartoon Network for rushing the series, but most blame should go to Optimum, with minimal blame going to Cloverway. Now, don't get me wrong, Cloverway does have a part in ruining S and SuperS, but just solely blaming Cloverway is not fair at all. I also know that I might sound hypocritical, considering I always bash Cloverway in my comparisons. That was a mistake on my part, I really should have said "Optimum" rather than Cloverway. Maybe someday I'll go through those and change all that ~_^. So basically to all you Canadians out there who are thinking about writing Cloverway, don't. Save your writing for Optimum, they're the real evil.

That's all for this update, c ya'll later!
