October 13th, 2000 Bob - Anti-SOS update

Well, the SOS has updated, big time. So, to counteract their stupidity, I've updated the SOS page, big time. This article I wrote is freaking huge. I hope the SOS never updates on such a mass scale ever again, cause it took me quite a while to write this thing. Anyway, I hope you all read it and feel the pain I feel when I think about the SOS. ^_^

October 8th, 2000 Tiff - I'm not dead, plus more two cents

Tiff's here!! And no, Bob, I haven't fallen into the Road Rules cult! Well, I finally finally finally did my two cents up to ep 111 (that's all I could take becuase i'm sick and the computer is only making me dizzy @.@ damn these germs!!). I've been making very few updates becuase I'm overloaded with school and work. So if you sent an opinions essay and haven't seen it up, it's either becuase I haven't had the time, or becuase I didn't choose yours (not every essay gets posted). thanks!

October 8th, 2000 Bob - Episodes 112 - 114 posted

Well, those Episode comparisons I promised you guys are up. Episodes 112, 113, and 114 are now up for your viewing pleasures.

I hope you enjoy them....or..something....

Sore ja, minna-san

October 7th, 2000 Bob - Hooray for idiots -_-

Sorry, but right now I HAVE to address an idiot. A person signed our guestbook under the name of "A Friend". Well, for one, if you don't have the courage to leave your e-mail or actually e-mail us, then I have already lost just about all respect for you. Sorry, that's just the way things are. Anyway, he says that our information is "wrong" about the SOS. I would just like to prove him wrong right now. I'm posting this in the "SOS" page too, so you can read this there too if you really want. Here's the entire message, and my comments are below it.

Name: A Friend
Comments: You've possibly made some huge mistakes on your SOS page. 9/24/00 - Neilsen ratings are not based on 7s. Sailor Moon S received lower ratings in it's premiere run in the Summer of 2000 than Sailor Moon R received in it's repeat airing in early 1999. And even as you noted, _repeats_ of Dragonball Z got higher ratings than _new_ episodes of Sailor Moon S. This is not good for new episodes! The Cartoon Network received a lot of mail about how bad the new Voice Artists were and how some fans missed the DiC cues. 9/24/00 - You fault the SOS for trying to represent the fans. Yet, it seems that a lot of fans do want a DiC version. The SOS, for better or for worse, does seem to represent the fans. Your beef maybe with the fans. 10/06/00 - You left out some important sentences here. The SOS said that the earliest the network could present the features is in 2001 and that for right now the network had no plans to PRESENT the features. Even the network admitted that they still hadn't acquired the features! The SOS never said that the network didn't want to present the features. I hope you make these fixes to your page.

No e-mail?? Geez....

Comments: You've possibly made some huge mistakes on your SOS page.

I doubt it....

9/24/00 - Neilsen ratings are not based on 7s.

Of course they aren't, Neilsen ratings are not based on ANYTHING. It depends on the show, time slot, network, and many other factors. I've seen ratings based out of 22, out of 18, out of 10. It all depends. In this case, Sailor Moon (and the other Toonami shows) were being rated out of 7. Want the proof? Go to animenation.com, they were the ones who reported the ratings. Infact, I'll copy and paste the whole article for you...

"The Nielsen television ratings for anime on the Cartoon Network last week reveal some surprises. Dragonball Z dominated the line-up while Gundam Wing appears not to be quite the powerhouse it was only a short time ago. Among boys aged 2-11, the 5 PM Dragonball Z scored a 6 out of 7 while its next nearest competitor, surprisingly Sailor Moon, scored a 4. Among young boys, Sailor Moon was trailed by the 6 PM Tenchi in Tokyo, which slightly edged out Gundam Wing. In the older category of viewers aged 11-17, Dragonball Z again dominated the rankings, earning a 4.1 share, followed by Gundam Wing (2.2), Tenchi in Tokyo (1.9), Sailor Moon (1.7) and Reboot (1.2). The household average balances out somewhat, but the overall household viewing percentages from last week still put Dragonball Z on top, earning nearly a 6 out of 7 score, followed by Sailor Moon, earning just above a 4, Reboot and Tenchi in Tokyo tied at a 3.5 out of 7 score, and Gundam Wing, the least overall watched anime program on the Cartoon Network last week with a 3.4 out of 7 score."

Read it and weep. It says for overall household viewing percentages, Sailor Moon earned just above a 4, which is better than any of the other shows except for DBZ on Toonami. This was reported on September 13th. Any questions, children? Please note that animenation was NOT suprised that Sailor Moon got a 4, but that it was the 2nd highest rated show, as usually Tenchi and Gundam do much better than they did that week. Considering Sailor Moon's time slot, I personally think that a 4 out of 7 (yes, a SEVEN, my "friend") is pretty good.

Sailor Moon S received lower ratings in it's premiere run in the Summer of 2000 than Sailor Moon R received in it's repeat airing in early 1999.

Considering I said nothing remotely like this.....You should start reading over more carefully. For one, I said that Sailor Moon S did BETTER than Sailor Moon R's last 17 episodes did in their PREMIERE RUN. No repeats. PREMIERE. Did you get that? I'll say it again, PREMIERE. Plus, of course Sailor Moon did worse in the summer than in would have if it had premiered when school was running. It's a known fact that during the summer, people don't watch TV as regularly as they would during the school year. Had Sailor Moon S premiered, let's say, in April, I think it would have done much better (not that it was doing bad to begin with or anything).

And even as you noted, _repeats_ of Dragonball Z got higher ratings than _new_ episodes of Sailor Moon S. This is not good for new episodes!

Personally, I don't care about DBZ. It's a known fact that DBZ kills the other Toonami programs, so I don't see it as being a justified comparison.

The Cartoon Network received a lot of mail about how bad the new Voice Artists were and how some fans missed the DiC cues.

What's your point? Personally, I think that THOSE fans should be ignored if they don't realize that Cartoon Network has just about no control over the situation. And I'VE received lots of mail about how SOME (definitely not all) of the Voice Artists are very good, and they prefer the new ones to the old ones (ie - Venus and Rini). And really, it's not that the voice artists are any worse than the old ones. The old ones sucked too, it's just the new ones suck in an entirely different way, so they have to adjust to a whole different level of suckiness, and they are too lazy to do so. I've heard from EVERY SINGLE FAN that they all hated Linda when she first started, and EVERY SINGLE FAN acknowledged that she has improved TREMENDOUSLY throughout the two seasons. Now, about the music, almost 100% of the e-mail I've received has be en supporting the new music. It's very charming and catching, and some of it is very emotional. Condemning it because "you don't like the transformation music" is absolutely absurd and disgusting. Yeah, sure, you may not like that ONE track, but if you're denying that ALL of the music sucks, then you're just freaking crazy. Listen to the Outer's music and the music theme that plays during the infamous "I like your hands" scene, and then tell me the DiC music was better.

9/24/00 - You fault the SOS for trying to represent the fans. Yet, it seems that a lot of fans do want a DiC version. The SOS, for better or for worse, does seem to represent the fans. Your beef maybe with the fans.

No.....My beef is with the SOS. They're idiots, straight up. Now, don't get me wrong, I don't condemn the SOS for wanting the represent the fans, I condemn them because they don't acknowledge all of the fans, they only acknowledge themselves and take the 50+ members of the organization as "the fans". And trust me, NO ONE WANTS A DIC VERSION. This is because a DiC version would have more script, animation, and dialogue changes, and it really ticks me that the SOS does not inform the fans that this is what a DiC version will have in it. A DiC version is NOT, I repeat, NOT just a return of the old voice actresses. The SOS should tell the fans this.

Plus, how do they know if the majority of the fans WANT the new voice actresses and Music gone? They have not conducted any ways of measuring this. I suggested to a friend of mine who works with the SOS to have a poll or something of the sort. She said it was a good idea, yet I have seen nothing happen.

Although the SOS didn't say that directly that Cartoon Network didn't want to present the features, that's the way people took it, as it was very vague and not worded correctly. The Cartoon Network DOES, I repeat, DOES have plans to present the features! Hands down, that's the truth. Go listen to the interview with Sean Akins. The only reason it is not "officially" set in stone yet is because they are still trying to work the deal out. The only way that Cartoon Network would have "No plans to show the movies" would be if they WERE NOT trying to get the movies in the first place, and as of right now, the Cartoon Network IS trying hard, very hard, to get those movies. Plus the fact that the SOS just denounced Animenation's reliability really ticked me off.

Geez, this got pretty long, almost editorial length....Oh well, you can read this in our SOS page too. And just a note to "A Friend". I'm sorry I had to publicly humiliate you. Had you e-mailed me, there probably wouldn't have been a problem at all, but since you posted this in our guestbook and did not leave an e-mail, then I had to tell everyone. I'm sorry.

October 6th, 2000 Bob - Tweaking the site a tad

Hola, Minna-san (if that makes sense...)

I have updated the SOS page that you can get to through the main page. I've added new information in the page and I've fixed the HTML in there so that you poor poor netscape users can view it too. ~_^ If it STILL doesn't work, tell me and I'll get cracking on it again.

Also, I have three episode comparisons in the process of being finished. Expect those up sometime this weekend.

Until next time, sore ja!

September 26th, 2000 Dan - Two cents plus another rant

I've added my two cents for episodes 109 - 111. Also, the airing of SMSS got me going, so I've got a hell of an editorial once again. It's not as long as the fansub one (Bob and I are practically tied for editorial length, Fansubs vs Dubbies, lol) but is still a decent amount of length. It tells of the status of SM in NA and what wrongs have been made all year as well as suggestions that could have been made to make everyone happier. I hope you all enjoy it!

September 24th, 2000 Bob - Three new comparisons plus new section to the site

I'm done ahead of schedule! MWHAHAHA! Hehe! I've gotten 3 episode comparisons done, so you can check that out.

Also, in reply to the amount of e-mail I've received about the Anti-SOS button, I've added a section explaining our motives. Just click the button on the front page to find out more.

Until next time, sore ja!

September 22nd, 2000 Bob - Nonsensical ramblings

After much researching and digging through sites that annoy me the most, I've come to the conclusion that "updates" that aren't really updates but just the webmaster talking and saying stuff about what's going on in his or her life piss me off more than anything else.

So in a desperate attempt to make everyone feel my pain, I bring you an update that's not really an update but more of a just "checking in" type thing..........MWHAHAHAHHAHAHHHA 8D.

Anyway, I know it's been forever (a whole week) since our last update *mockingly laughs at Chris* but let me explain our absence.

As for me, I got one episode comparison done on paper last Friday, but have found no time to put it into HTML or to do other comparisons. I'm just too busy with school and being lazy. I'm sorry about that. As a means of space filler, I'm going to tell you my daily schedule. Mondays through Fridays consist of my alarm clock ringing at 5:50 AM. At around 6:18 I get up and get dressed and then by 6:25 I'm off to school. The bell rings at 6:55 and I am in American Literature Honors by 6:58. After 7 hours and 8 classes have passed, I'm free to go home. I usually catch a ride with one of my friends and by 2:30 I'm home. This is where I plop down on my couch and try to make up the valuable sleep that I had lost the night before. At 4:00, I get up and tune into Toonami, even though I know I shouldn't. I usually get a few snacks while Reboot is on, although I rarely watch it. Then my beloved Sailor Moon comes on, although sometimes watching makes my teeth cringe. Then comes my block that I've been waiting for. The new episodes of DBZ. Yeah, I know, the DBZ dub sucks, but it's all I got, so I might as well put up with it. Trust me, the day I become rich it will be all subs. Then I tune into Gundam Wing, which I am watching for the first time in its 3rd run on Cartoon Network. Occasionally, I will watch Tenchi, but Tenchi In Tokyo is so damn boring.....ugh. If I'm not watching Tenchi, I tune into FOX and watch Simpsons re-runs. After all this is done, I sit down and I work on the homework I was assigned for that day. By 7:30 I'm done, and this when I sit down at my computer and try and catch up with my favorite sites to see if they've updated. Then at 8:00, I'm sitting in front of my TV again watching the infamous CBS show, Big Brother (and if anyone makes fun of me, let them rot). Then at 8:30 (or 9:00 if it's a Wednesday) I jump in the shower and get ready for bed and then I'm physically in bed watching TV or a movie or one of my anime tapes until around 11:00, when I actually do fall asleep.

Wasn't that interesting? Or should I say, a good space filler? Either way, the fact of the matter is that the only possible time for me to do episode comparisons right now is on Weekends, and usually on weekends I'm at my friend's house. Hopefully when Gundam Wing ends early next week and Big Brother ends later the same week, I'll have more time, but at the moment, I don't.

Luckily though, I do have time this weekend and I plan to do some comparisons and hopefully (emphasis on "hopefully") have them up by Monday.

As for Dan, he is also busy with school and with MKBO, his first priority. He also has Marching Band or something, and that seems to take up a lot of his time, so there *sticks tongue out in an evil manner*.

As for Tiff.......Well.....I really don't know what's up with Tiff. I haven't seen nor talked to her in quite a while. I hope she hasn't flown off to Canada or something......*sweat drop*. If anyone sees her, tell her to please stay stop the madness and cease being a part of MTV's Road Rules cast. It's not good for you tiff! They'll back stab you! They'll BACK STAB YOU!!! Of course I'm joking to degree of silliness that cannot be measured. Seriously though, she seems to be extremely busy with College and trying to get her new site up. Hopefully things will calm down for her so that she can update the Opinions section, as she's reported to me that she's gotten some interesting ones.

Finally, do you guys want to see me in action? (NO! Not that kind of action, you pervert......Geez, I thought all the ecchi people stuck to the DBZ Uncensored Message Forum.....) You can catch me on a web camera at my school! Nifty, eh? Let me explain the situation.

In my website class, there is a camera mounted in the back corner of the room. Thus, people can tune into www.atech.org and watch the live webcast of what's going on in the classroom. I am in the room on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Fridays from 7:48 to 8:31AM and on Thursdays from 8:30 to 9:55AM PACIFIC DAYLIGHT TIME!!! That's PACIFIC TIME. Please don't tell me I wasn't there when you live in Massachusetts and you are tuning in at 8:00 your time. 8:00 in Massachusetts is 5:00 Las Vegas time. Please note that I am only in the room on the days listed and at those times only. So basically, I'm not in the room on Wednesdays at all.

Now, how to find me on the webcast. My computer station is in the VERY TOP LEFT CORNER of the picture. I'm usually the first person you can see in the Top Left corner. I sit in the comer seat. In other words, I'm as far right as you can go on the front wall, and the person next to me is the first person on the right wall, if that makes any sense, which it probably doesn't. I'm usually wearing jeans, but you might find me in khaki shorts or cargo pants.

Finally, where to FIND the webcast. The webcast can be found at http://www.atech.org. Just click on the link or type in the URL at the times specified above and POOF! You're watching the webcast. It's as simple as that.

Well, I'm done wasting your time now. Have a nice day everyone! Hehe. I hope you have all suffered as much reading this as I have writing it. And I have one thing to say to all you grammar freaks, I don't use spell check. MWHAHAHAH. That means, if you find an error, you can bite me. HAHA! The only person who is obliged to inform me of a grammar/spelling error is Tiff. Don't you guys wish you were special like her? HAHAH. Ok....I'll stop now......

September 15th, 2000 Dan - More new links

I had nothing to do today, so I was going through my mailbox @.@ and found a link submission that was actually dated a day before the one I put up yesterday, I guess school is taking it's toll on me, lol. I also got a link submission yesterday not more than a few hours after posting yesterday's, so there are two new links.

September 14th, 2000 Dan - Link added

I got our first link submission a couple days ago! I finally got to reviewing it today and have added it to our Good non-Sailor Moon sites links.

September 13th, 2000 Bob - Dubbie vs Subbie debate

We have a new editorial that is sure to flood my e-mail box with hate mail! Woooooooh! Am I excited!

Anyway, since I came home from school early today because I was sick (;_;), I had a lot of time to work on this editorial. It's very very long, but it's worth the read. It's about dubbies and subbies. Tell me whatcha think about it!

September 9th, 2000 Dan - Two cents update

Thanx for the happy birthday a few days ago guys. ^_^

I've added my two cents for 105 - 108.

September 5th, 2000 Bob - Dan's birthday plus four new comparisons

First off, Happy Birthday Dan!!! ^_^ That's from me and Tiff ^_^

Next, off to what you guys really want. I've added 4 new episode comparisons! That's right, 4! Wooooohhoooooo!! You guys should be so happy! I spent just about all my free time (well, not ALL of it) doing those! ^_^ Be happy!

Also, we are all in school (or are about to get into school) now. Thus, the updates will come fewer and farther inbetween. In our spare time, we'll try to update as often as we can, but as the year rolls on, it'll be harder for us to find time. But it's ok! We'll still try to serve our customers....or fans.....or whatever. ^_^;;;;;;

September 4th, 2000 Dan - Tweaking the place up a bit

Things have been slow around here and MKBO so I've done some small things around the site. The only change most of you will notice is the addition of three links. Also, for anyone who wants to know, tomorrows my birthday! I'm turning 17!!! I can hardly wait, but I think I'll play with the CD burner I just bought to keep myself busy.

August 27th, 2000 Dan - More two cents added

Well, between the terrashare FTP being gimped for a while, mixed in with band camp, I've finally been able to do my two cents for episodes 102 - 104. Now all I have left to do to catch up with everything that happened band camp week is to read all 60-something posts in an RPG I started taking part in just before band camp. *sigh* And why can't people tell me when I make a mistake? I was just browsing through here a little bit ago, and noticed in the names section (in the series section) I totally forgot to put Sailor Neptune in there! I'm suprised no one noticed, myself included. Anyways, that has been fixed.
