Fairly big update today considering I need to catch up with what's happened in the past few weeks. Guess I'll start off in order and talk about the new CD that came out a few weeks ago.
In my last update, I showed you the cover of the new CD. It got here less than a week later, and two things stuck out to me when I checked out the back. One, there's a screensaver on the CD, and the second is that there's really no track listing. Just lists the first few songs and says something like "and more of your favorites" type deal. The back of the front cover insert thingy had all the songs listed, but with no track numbers, which baffled me for a bit. Checked out the screensaver, not too bad, nice images used in it, and I think if the CD is in your cpu when it goes off, background music plays, but I haven't taken the time to see if that's true or not (won't until I go home for winter break), so don't take my word on it yet. Listened to the CD and it was interesting, explained why there wasn't a track listing, because this CD also has DiC BG music used in the dub. Opening and looking through the insert, they have the dub tracks listed where they are on the CD between lyrics of songs. While it's nice to have the BG music on CD, it doesn't fit well on this CD, would do better on a seperate CD rather then having a BG song between some songs I think. Besides that, the CD sounds good, I enjoyed listening to it, the remixes of older songs are pretty good for the most part, the new song fits in well, and it was a good selection of music for this CD. I'd rather have had the DiC BG music cut off the CD in favor of another song or two, but it was an enjoyable CD nonetheless. I'd personally recommend buying it, it's cheap (retails for $13 I believe, and not too many places sell stuff at retail, usually lower), made by a company not "protected" by the RIAA (so you can feel better by not supporting those assholes, and it's funny, a non-RIAA CD is signficantally less than an RIAA CD, suprise suprise (I'm 99% sure Koch isn't under them, feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.)), and an enjoyable CD for people who liked the first two. If you haven't heard the first two, you should definetly give this a shot, especially with it's low price, and if you have heard the first two, you'd find this CD to be a good mix of the first two with some new twists. Over winter break, I'll be making a CD section where I'll give the full listings of tracks and scans and all, much like the DVD sections.
Speaking of DVDs, the fifth SuperS DVD was released a week after the CD. I haven't been able to scan it yet, will try to as soon as I can, haven't watched it yet, dunno when I will, but before Christmas I promise to have scans up for it.
While on the topic on the SuperS DVDs, I've been given information from Matt Merendo regarding the final SuperS DVD. It seems that Matt had e-mailed Pioneer over the summer asking Pioneer questions on the SuperS release schedule and a couple other small things. According to what he forwarded to me (which was Pioneer's response to his mail), the final SuperS DVD will contain the final three episodes and retail for half the price of all the other DVDs, at $14.98. I'd make a news article on this, however things can change, and hopefully have for the better as this took place in late July (the e-mail states that ADV hadn't gotten the rights to the first two seasons yet and were waiting for DiC's liscense to expire to get them) so things might've changed since then. I hope there's more of a suprise than a price cut, but with how the SuperS releases have been going so far, I sadly wouldn't be suprised if there wasn't.
Speaking of Pioneer, they updated their site to list releases up until mid-April. Of course, the final DVD and set of VHSs weren't on there, though the coverart for the sixth set of SuperS releases were, and are up in the Pioneer SuperS coverart archive.
So thus ends today's update, and the chances that a month will go by with no update. ^^;;; I hope everyone had a nice turkey day and I'll have some more nice stuff to post before year's end!
