It seems someone has spoofed my email address – However, they are not too far off from what I would have said. I’d rather you hadn’t written the “press release”, if has caused a lot of confusion and quite frankly a lot of work on my part to dispel, but it is unfortunate the level of vitriol which has been directed at you. Stay strong and I promise, should we ever acquire the Sailor Moon anime series for U.S. distribution, we will shout it from the rooftops. I am deeply, sincerely sorry. My website gets under 100 visits on an average day and I never, *never* expected it would get spread to hundreds of other blogs and news sites -- nor did I expect to receive the level of hatred and threats I got. I understand that my joke was in poor taste, but I did not intentionally try to make up receiving an e-mail from what I thought was a Funimation PR personnel. I also thought that the fake "press release" I made was a pretty obvious spoof, since it was directly copied and pasted from Kodansha's PR regarding their acquisition of the Sailor Moon manga a few weeks ago. Anyway, I've forwarded you the e-mail I've received. Gosh knows I don't need the same pack of rabid fans coming after me calling me a liar about receiving a notice from Funimation on top of everything else... Anyway, thank you for your understanding and patience in this matter. Goodness knows I won't be celebrating April Fool's Day anymore! - Elly -------- Original Message -------- Subject: Re: FUNIMATION Sailor Moon Press Release Date: Sat, 2 Apr 2011 02:36:24 +0400 From: Jackie Smith To: To Whom It May Concern: I am contacting you in regards to a number of e-mails we have received under the header of the "Moon Chase Blog" informing us about a falsified press release statement that was distributed through your website, "Miss Dream". We have reviewed the linked materials and have determined that this was a harmless April Fools prank. Although it was in poor taste, FUNIMATION ENTERTAINMENT LTD does not have plans to pursue litigation at this time. On behalf of FUNIMATION ENTERTAINMENT, I would like to ask you to remove the falsified press report from your site as a gesture of good will. I also request that you keep the contents of this contact confidential. Best wishes to you and thank you for your cooperation. Sincerely, Jackie Smith
